Aumua Amata Radewagen (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing American Samoa's At-Large Congressional District. She assumed office on January 3, 2015. Her current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Radewagen (Republican Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent American Samoa's At-Large Congressional District. She declared candidacy for the 2024 election.[source]

As a delegate, Radewagen is one of six nonvoting members of Congress.

In 2012, Radewagen became the most senior member of the Republican National Committee. She has served on the Executive Council, the Committee on Arrangements, and the Standing Committee on Rules.[1]

Radewagen was an at-large delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention from American Samoa. Radewagen was one of nine unpledged delegates from American Samoa.[2]

Republican Party

According to the Republican Party website, Radewagen is "the most senior National Committeewoman of the RNC, and has served as the committeewoman from American Samoa since June 1986." She has served the Republican National Committee (RNC) in several ways. Attending eight Republican National Conventions, she has served on the Chairman's Executive Council, six times on the Standing Committee on Rules, six times on the Committee on Arrangements, twice as officer of the convention.[8][9]

Her GOP profile states that she was appointed to the Chairman's Commission on Convention Planning in 2013 and received the Trailblazer Award "in recognition of her leadership in Pacific Islander communities nationally."[9]

Radewagen was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team. The transition team was a group of around 100 aides, policy experts, government affairs officials, and former government officials who were tasked with vetting, interviewing, and recommending individuals for top cabinet and staff roles in Trump's administration. She was part of the executive team.

Radewagen was an at-large delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention. She was an unpledged delegate.

RNC Rules Committee

Radewagen was a member of the RNC Rules Committee, a 112-member body responsible for crafting the official rules of the Republican Party, including the rules that governed the 2016 Republican National Convention.[10]

Appointment process

The convention Rules Committee in 2016 consisted of one male and one female delegate from each state and territorial delegation. The Rules of the Republican Party required each delegation to elect from its own membership representatives to serve on the Rules Committee.

All of American Samoa's Republican delegates were "unpledged," meaning they were not pledged to support a specific candidate at the national convention. Delegates from American Samoa were elected at a territorial convention on March 22, 2016.
